About this event
Think Like a Hacker: The Cyber Kill Chain
Every cyberattack follows a sequence of carefully planned steps. Understanding this process is one of the best ways to strengthen your cybersecurity knowledge and defend against real-world threats. In this live session, you'll explore the Cyber Kill Chain framework from an ethical hacker's perspective and learn how security professionals identify vulnerabilities before malicious attackers can exploit them.
This beginner-friendly session combines fundamental cybersecurity concepts with practical live demonstrations. You'll see how publicly available information can be gathered during reconnaissance, how systems are scanned and enumerated, and how common web application vulnerabilities can be identified in a safe lab environment. The session focuses on understanding attacker methodologies so that organizations and individuals can build stronger defenses.
During the session, we'll cover an introduction to ethical hacking, the Cyber Kill Chain framework, reconnaissance techniques using Google Dorking, WHOIS, DNS Lookup, and Shodan, scanning and enumeration with Nmap, Gobuster, and Burp Suite, and a live demonstration of basic web security concepts using SQL Injection in intentionally vulnerable applications such as DVWA and OWASP Juice Shop. We'll conclude with defense strategies, security best practices, recommended learning resources, and an interactive Q&A session.
Who should attend:
Students, aspiring ethical hackers, cybersecurity beginners, software developers, DevOps engineers, system administrators, IT professionals, and anyone interested in understanding how cyberattacks work and how to defend against them.
By the end of this session, you'll have a clear understanding of the Cyber Kill Chain, common reconnaissance and scanning techniques, basic web application security concepts, and practical defensive measures that can help protect systems from cyber threats.
Note: All demonstrations will be performed in authorized lab environments created specifically for learning purposes. The objective of this session is to promote ethical hacking practices, cybersecurity awareness, and responsible security testing.
